Idiots Guide To Basic Udio Prompting

Welcome to my Idiots Guide To Basic Udio Prompting. Before we even get to how to prompt we first need to understand what Udio is and what Udio is not. Udio is not a Large Language Model like Chat GPT or Grok. Udio is a language model that interprets your settings, and prompt itself and turns it into music.

Now, the next thing we need to discuss is “what is a prompt”. Imagine a blank canvas. Where the artist (you) paints a picture. This is how Udio sees everything. This is called the Context Window.

I will explain advanced features later. There are many ways to use that canvas (AI). So within that context, a Prompt is an idea that you have that you want to put on your canvas (AI).

Now the reason you all came to this guide to do. Learn how to prompt. Say you want to mimic the style of your favorite artist. You're not going to get them exactly due to RNG (Random Number Generation)but you will get close.

So with that said, say you want to mimic the style of Bruno Mars. Lets go to one of the websites that list the genres. Rate Your Music EveryNoise

I use either or, so with that said, when you search those websites, you will see some genres and what we will call descriptors. Bruno Mars is Dance Pop, and Pop. You could put in Nu-Disco but we won't do that here. That would be advanced prompting.

An advanced tip is Udio's interpreter will weigh your prompt from left to right so that means the most important prompt is your first word and your least important prompt is your last word so placement is extremely important. Now you'll see in the main field something called “advanced features”. We won't go into that with this guide. That will be something in the future. So the full prompt would be as follows:

dancepop, pop. tenor male vocalist.

My reasoning for this style of prompting would be advanced prompting so I'm not going to go into that with this guide.
