✂️Trim

Trim is a simple tool used to reduce the size of a clip after it's creation.

At any point after it's generation, a clip can be trimmed to reduce the size of it, without generating a new clip. This also does NOT refresh the "creation" date of the song being trimmed.

You access trim in much the same way you access Edit and Inpaint, except select the "trim" option instead!

The Trim option allows you to edit the trim after applying it, or revert the song back to before any trims were applied! Udio will remember the clip size!

When you click Trim, a window will appear that looks almost identical to the "Crop and Extend" window. If you need to revisit, here's the link: Crop, Extend and Placement

As you can see, the song here is actually longer than the published version, but is trimmed. Udio still retains the original duration in memory.

You move the sliders for Trim much as you would for Crop and Extend, the song wavelength within the pink highlight is the audio you will keep, and everything outside it will be "trimmed".

Note: trimmed material is not lost, and can be recovered by simply retrimming the song. This memory of the song's original length is lost however if you extend the clip, and the resultant generations will NOT have that memory information, as it is clip-specific.

Trim should be used to apply finishing touches to a song to tidy it, and can be especially helpful in creating tidy outros.
