🤖Manual Mode

Toggle to determine how much control you let the AI have over working with your prompt.

The first option under the Advanced Controls setting is the Manual Mode Toggle:

By default this is turned off. What that means is the AI may adjust your Core Prompt Box in order to improve how "harmonic" it sounds and make it "workable". It shouldn't fundamentally alter it though unless you've used a lot of contradictory prompts!

This means that whilst the general output will rarely be "weird", you lack control, as the AI will purposefully overwrite certain things. Click the toggle to turn manual mode on.

When on, you interface with the model directly, which means it will not rewrite any of your prompt, and tries to work with exactly what you've given it. This means sometimes it will struggle to know "what to do" if the prompts given to it are difficult to reconcile. It does however mean it will not "write out" any unusual or unique prompts you've given it it would otherwise, but can still understand.

For example the auto-tag system does not naturally recognise the accent of a vocalist, so if you prompt it (eg. "American Accent") with manual mode off, the AI will get rid of that tag when generating. If you have manual mode activated, the tag will remain. Despite not being a recommended tag, the AI does understand such prompts and as a result it will more often than not generate vocalists with an American accent for you.

So manual mode allows you to tell the AI what to do in a more precise manner it would not normally think to do on it's own. This makes it a very powerful tool and something it is highly recommended you practice using, as certain sounds and effects are incredibly unlikely to be generated outside of using manual mode. It does place more emphasis on your ability to understand what does and doesn't work in terms of prompting however, but the payoff in learning how to use it is significant. There is a lot of research and experimentation that goes into figuring which non-recommended prompts the AI understands and which it doesn't, and to what degree.

All this does however mean in manual mode, the AI can and will generate "weird" and "poor quality" gens if the prompting simply doesn't really work and it doesn't understand what you want from it. So be mindful of that. This is key to remember when starting out - we've all been there! Nobody made an excellent song in manual mode without some questionable generations first!
